We used an envelope to trace tiangles across the paper.  Where the lines intersect draw a circle about 1 inch in diameter.  

Cut the lines toward the center till you get to the circle.  

Fold one end of each triangle in to the center.  We used to tape to hold them down.  

I used a needle punch tool to make a hole in the dowel rod and then drove a pin thru the paper and the dowel.  I used a wire clip to bend the sharp end of the pin 90 degrees and taped in to the dowel rod.

On the left is a piece of 12/12 paper and on the right is 6/6
